My fishy
Just a few days ago, my mom was telling me that my fishy doesn't seem to be able to aim its mouth properly at the floating bits of food. I brushed it off lightly, saying that fishy probably couldn't balance well since it is so fat and round now.
This morning, my father fed the fishes and fishy (above) didn't eat. I thought it might be falling sick soon, but I decided to wait till the next feeding time before assessing its health again.
So later at night, when I walked towards the fish tank with the bottle of food in my hand, all 4 of them fishes rushed to the surface of the water, furiously gaping n closing their mouths. Good, it seems that all of them are hungry! (How to assess if a fish is sick: If a fish is hungry, it is not sick.) I poured a lot of food in, rewarding them for... erm.. feeling hungry. But the next scene was a saddening one. All the fishes did not seem to know where the food is. They knew I poured in the food, but.. they couldn't see. One fishy (the sickly one which always overturns and the only one tt I cried so many times over) was jus frantically sucking in water as fast as possible and in as big mouthfuls as possible, hoping to suck in some bits of food. And once it does, it will just stay put in tt position, thinking that all the food is there when actually... the food is at the other side of the tank. The other fishy (pictured above) will be swimming around.. and around.. and around.. trying to see where the food is.
They are not sick... they are old. Their eyesight is failing them. Laugh, but its not funny to me at all.. It has been 1 year and 4 months ever since I had them, and I guessed they have probably lived abt 2 years. So.. like humans, their organs will start to fail them as they grow older.. so I guess they can't really see well now, they can only swim around blindly. Big objects like me can see lor, but food so tiny, they are such poor things..
Its been 2 hours since I fed my fish. And one of them is still busy sucking around, for food....
